Obituary

Harold Keith Shanks, 51, of Benton, MO passed away Tuesday, May 18th, 2021 at his home.

Keith was loved by so many and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and ability to brighten everyone’s day. Keith could always find the humor and the bright side in every situation. He always had an infectious laugh that will be greatly missed.

Keith was born in Dexter, MO to Sarah and Jim Shanks on February 11th, 1970. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Felicia Kunefke and his two beloved dogs, Abby, and Buddy. Keith is also survived by his brother Phil (Jean Ann) Wilson of Greyridge, MO, Aunt Mary Bollinger of Waynesville, MO, and Uncle C.O. Wilson (Cathy) of Kentucky. He also is survived by 4 nephews and 2 nieces and several great nephews and nieces, as well as his in-law family.

Keith was always so full of life and knew how to keep you on your toes. He was an avid dog lover who could be happy just being with his dogs. Keith was a sharp man who was always learning new things. He loved to read and could spend all day long outside in the fresh sunlight and with his flowers. He loved to play golf and could handle himself pretty good at the pool table. He loved to take long drives and listen to his music. Keith hated being still so was always looking for his next adventure. He is a huge inspiration of compassion, love, strength, and endurance. He faced a tough 8 ½ years full of battle with cancer. From the first day he found out, he wanted to protect his loved ones from the pain. He brought so much laughter to his fight. No matter how hard the road, he always had a joke and a smile. He loved being able to help others on their journey so that they never felt overwhelmed or worried. He will never know how much of an impact that he made on those around him. He will be greatly missed, but we are so thankful that his battle is over, and he can finally be at peace.

Keith will be cremated, and a celebration of life service will be held from 2pm-4pm on Saturday, May 22,2021 at First Oneness Pentecostal Church of Morehouse Missouri.

Arrangements were under the care of Liley Cremation Services in Cape Girardeau.

Keith was an amazing soul. One of a kind person who made you still believe in the good in people. Lived as if everyday was a gift and shared his unparalleled personality with everyone he met. Even in the face of grave times this man still spread laughter and joy and jokes. My condolences to family and loved ones. He will be remembered and I hope his genuine personality that spread to anyone he has met is spread through them now.

I will always carry Keith in my heart with me for the rest of my years. I am beyond thankful that he chose me to walk with him. He made me a better person and showed me what true love really is. I will miss our long talks and seeing him laugh so much. I miss you every second of the day, baby but I'm so thankful you will never feel another ounce of pain. I will see you again! Fly high, my love!
