Obituary

Junior Lee Petzoldt, 87, of Pocahontas, passed away Tuesday, September 22, at the Lutheran Home after battling a long-term infection from an amputation. Junior was born, June 16, 1933 in New Wells to Anton and Edna Koenig Petzoldt. Junior and Jean Kieninger were married on July 2, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, Mo
.
Junior was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas. Where he served as the LLL Membership chair. He also took care of the church grounds for many years. Junior worked at East Perry Lumber Company in Frohna, until his retirement in 1995. Junior loved raising sheep and was a master gardener. He also loved tinkering with cars and lawnmowers.

Loving survivors include his wife Jean; sons, Bruce of Pocahontas, Mo, Jeff (Pam) of Cape Girardeau, Mo, and Roger (Jody) of Jackson, Mo; grandchildren, Jordan, Adelyn Schlegel (Seth), Arthur (fiancée Maegan), Ben, and LoriAnne (fiancé Nick); brother, Herb (Dorsey) of Altenburg, Mo; sisters, Ardene Koenig of Arnold, Mo and Shirlene (Earl) Miller of Perryville, Mo; numerous nieces and nephews; and by a dear friend and caregiver Tammy Hahs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Tim, Harold, Harland, and Pearl; and sisters Viola and Ruth.

Memorials may be made to Lutheran Family and Children’s Services, 3178 Blattner Dr, Cape Girardeau, MO 63703 or Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 286 Pocahontas Main St., Pocahontas, MO 63779.
The Petzoldt family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at SE Hospital, Barnes Hospital, Landmark Hospital, and the Lutheran Home for all the love and care they gave Junior over the past five months.

Visitation will be from 10-11am on Saturday, September 26th at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, Mo. Memorial service will take place at the church at 11 am with Pastor Virgil Kelm officiating. Do to the mask mandate in Cape Girardeau county, masks will be mandatory at the visitation and service. Burial will be at a later date with only immediate family. Liley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
